About

My name is Caroline Harroe. First and foremost I am a mum to 5 little people including two sets of twins. We live a somewhat quirky existence where our children are home educated and we live on the edge of our own little patch of woodland. It’s idyllic and chaotic. I am a self-taught traditional and digital artist working in a range of mediums to explore the human experience.

My art reflects my life, pursuing an understanding and expression of the physical & emotional experience of what it is to be a human and what it is to be a woman.

My work often takes a look at suffering and survival, darkness and hope, strength and vulnerability. Essentially I explore in art, that which I experience in life, or that I see others experiencing. This enables me to represent or make sense if the experience, for myself and for others.

The Beautiful Bodies Collection

This is my genesis collection focusing on a celebration of women and womanhood; of the strength and connection of women and their bodies regardless of shape and size. Drawing upon the irony of the blue and pink gendered colour palette these silhouetted female bodies find beauty in shapes and shadows.

A Mother's Arms explores the sensitivity of the mother-child bind in its beauty and its pain. The pieces capture the humanity and humility of motherhood, of giving graciously, and of the pain of letting go.

The Hope and Colour Collection

This black and white collection is an abstract observation of humanity and it’s interaction with itself and the universe. ‘I write to you in black and white, so will I draw. I will draw you a story of what I see and have come to know. I will draw you a tale of things I’ve learnt and felt; of the universe we inhabit and how I exist within my body and mind’. The collection will form a testimony to living, a story book of the human experience and its many events and challenges..
