The award-winning R&B singer Akon has been actively exploring the non-fungible token (NFT) trend, and now plans to release his own NFT album.

Akon has made no secret of his involvement in the blockchain technology, and more particularly the non-fungible token industry. Recently, Akon has stepped up his career and partnered with Taqo to launch his own AkoinNFT marketplace that “supercharge and empower artists and brands”, Akon Said.

Last December, at the Proof of Fusion event in Abu Dhabi, Akon revealed the release of his NFT Album and discussed this new technology, in an interview with Esquire. Akon believes that owning a piece of art, as an NFT, will allow artists to benefit more from the work they produce as they never get a fair share of the profits. Akon also states that music NFT will open the door to full transparency for artists and musicians, in regards to distribution and the data related. Thus, it gives artists a clear vision where their music is being played, who is playing it, where they are playing it, and how many times it is played.

“My next album is going to be an NFT album…which means I’ll be able to monetize it from the day it drops on every platform that exists”, Akon said.

The American singer Akon has been a strong believer and supporter of the cryptocurrency industry and now cracks into NFTs, which will be the route of all his future releases.
