BMW Files for NFT & Metaverse Trademark Application
The German vehicle and motorcycle manufacturer BMW has now submitted a Web3 trademark application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Mike Kondoudis, a trademark lawyer who often publishes information on Web3 trademark applications in the United States, broke the news on November 30, 2022. Thus, the new non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse trademark may position BMW to become a significant Web3 participant.
The application covers a wide range of web3 products and services, including NFT authenticated media + files, virtual vehicles + clothing + footwear, retail stores, virtual environments, and more.
BMW aims to employ downloadable virtual products and NFTs in metaverse environments and games, according to the application, a trend that is becoming popular among major brands and businesses across the world.
BMW has already ventured into Web3. BMW collaborated with Fender and VR platform Horizon Worlds earlier this year to provide a virtual experience for Meta's virtual world. The renowned automaker now seems to be positioning itself to join Web3 on its own.
The decision by BMW to register Web3 trademarks for NFTs and the metaverse is a great advance for the industry. But we'll need to wait to see how BMW chooses to utilize its new NFT and metaverse trademarks. Here at NFT Drops Calendar, we will keep an eye out for any development in the story.
