The titanic metaverse, Decentraland, has presented royalty payments into its secondary sales structure. As such, creators of wearables will now obtain an additional payment every time an item is resold.

Succeeding the update, creators of new and present collections on the Polygon network will receive a 2.5% commission by default, and should they wish, can supersede this function and delegate an alternative recipient using the management tool. Afterwards, the creator, or beneficiary, will receive a share of any additional transactions.

Before the alteration, Decentraland worked on a framework where 2.5% of every single sale went straight to the platform DAO, which left the original creator only receiving a fee from the primary listing. Going onward, however, they will waive this payment on all secondary trades, choosing instead to give the fee directly to the creator or whoever they have delegated as beneficiary.
