Forbes Steps into Web3 with the Launch of its Virtual Billionaires NFT Collection
Forbes has released a sneak peek of its virtual Billionaires NFT collection, a first for the media sector.
Forbes will launch a collection of 100 NFTs dubbed Virtual Billionaires on April 13th, in collaboration with FTX. Each Virtual Billionaire will have a theoretical portfolio, a Forbes profile page, and a list of hobbies.
The upcoming Forbes Virtual NFT Billionaires List will feature a set of fictional investors with a massive theoretical portfolio and virtual net worth based on actual New York Stock Exchange pricing.
Forbes NFT (Virtual) Billionaires will get their own profile page on Forbes.com, along with a custom illustrated headshot created by Goodog and ItsACat, a Barcelona-based collective of 2D and 3D illustrators and animators. Owners' public wallet addresses will be posted alongside the Billionaire they own on Forbes.com's official ranking.
“With the Forbes virtual Billionaires NFT collection, we are seeing an established and reputable media company endeavor into the blockchain industry,” said Tristan Yver, Head of Strategy at FTX US. “We are excited to partner with Forbes on their first NFT sale and will continue to encourage innovation and entry into the digital asset community."
This is not the company's first step into the metaverse; last year, it turned one of its magazine covers into an NFT, and in March, it sponsored the inaugural Digital Assets and Web3 Summit, which was attended by major industry experts.
