Gucci Joins Forces with Yuga Labs for Phygitical Metaverse Experience
Gucci has recently announced a new partnership with Yuga Labs, a leading company in the non-fungible token (NFT) space. The collaboration was teased on Twitter with an image from Yuga Labs' Otherside metaverse featuring the word "Gucci."
While the exact details of the partnership were not disclosed, it seems that Gucci plans to integrate physical and digital elements, a trend known as "phygital," in Yuga Labs' metaverse. Emily Kitts, Director of PR for Yuga Labs, stated that the partnership will focus on creating new experiences for their communities through creative storytelling.
"Continuing to explore the Metaverse, the House comes together with Yuga Labs," said Gucci in a tweet. "Stay tuned as a new narrative takes shape, blurring the boundaries between the physical and digital."
This isn't Gucci's first foray into the world of Web3 and NFTs, as it has already made several moves around the metaverse. In February of last year, it purchased a parcel of land in the popular Ethereum-based metaverse Sandbox. Later in June, it launched a metaverse experience on the game Roblox. In addition, Gucci was the first major brand to accept ApeCoin, the cryptocurrency of the Bored Ape Yacht Club community.
With both Gucci and Yuga Labs expanding rapidly in Web3, perhaps it is unsurprising they are collaborating. Here at NFT Drops Calendar, we will keep you informed If there are any new developments in this story.
