Gucci to Start Accepting Crypto Payments at US Stores
Gucci, the luxury fashion house, recently announced that crypto payments will soon be accepted at five of its physical sites in the United States.
Gucci is tapping into the crypto crowd. The brand will begin accepting cryptocurrency payments in select US stores at the end of this month, with plans to expand the pilot to its directly-operated North American stores by the summer. The move represents significant validation for the currency from a leading luxury brand.
Customers will be able to pay for merchandise using cryptocurrency at the following Gucci locations beginning at the end of the month: Miami Design District, Wooster Street New York, Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas, and Phipps Plaza in Atlanta.
In-store crypto payments will be made via an email link that contains a QR code that allows the customer to execute the payment from their crypto wallet. Thus, Gucci will accept Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, and five stable coins pegged to the US dollar as payment. Dogecoin, a "meme" cryptocurrency will also be accepted.
