It’s been a big twelve months for the modest NFT. We’ve gotten apes in abundance, stacks of controversy, a true revolution in gaming, and the rise of an NFT-driven metaverse. It’s only fitting then, that it should end the year on a high, becoming the most searched blockchain term on the internet.

As of December 2021, NFT is one of the most searched words on the World Wide Web, exceeding that of “crypto,” “blockchain,” and “bitcoin,”with internet dwellers diverged with regards to their views of them. Heading up this incredible drive are searches in China, closely followed by neighboring South-East Asian nations, and with Venezuela rounding off the top four.

It’s not surprising if you have followed the rise of the non-fungible token throughout the year, which is closing in on becoming a $20 billion industry, and showing no signs of slowing down. Love them or loathe them, NFTs have shaped the year as we know it, and could possibly go stratospheric in the coming months.
