Polygon Labs and Unstoppable Domains Team Up to Launch .polygon Domains

Polygon Labs, a popular blockchain ecosystem, has partnered with Unstoppable Domains, a web3 domain provider, to launch .polygon domains. This partnership will allow users to create decentralized websites and log into web3 applications using human-readable wallet addresses. The offering is expected to be available to an estimated 180 million users and 40,000 services across the Polygon blockchain ecosystem.

Unstoppable Domains utilizes Polygon to mint decentralized domains with zero gas fees, and over 2.7 million domains have been registered on the Polygon blockchain to date. The .polygon domains can be used to create digital identities that are compatible across 750 applications, games, and metaverse platforms

In a statement, Polygon Labs' Vice President of Business Development, Sanket Shah, emphasized the importance of unlocking user-owned digital identity for Polygon users, saying, 

"Web3 domains will give our community a digital identity that they fully own, so they can log into dapps without giving away their personal information and transact crypto without lengthy wallet addresses.”

This partnership between Polygon Labs and Unstoppable Domains comes as decentralized domain services like Unstoppable Domains and Ethereum Name Service (ENS) gain popularity, with considerable growth in domains registered. 

Back in June of last year, Unstoppable Domains announced that it successfully concluded a $65 million Series A fundraising round at a $1 billion post-money valuation. Also last month, it partnered with Ready Player Me, a cross-game digital avatar platform, to enable users to create interoperable digital identities across metaverses.

Overall, the partnership between Polygon Labs and Unstoppable Domains represents a major step forward in creating a more user-friendly and accessible Web3 ecosystem for Polygon users.
