Swiss TAG Heuer to Allow Users to Display NFTs on their Smartwatches
Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer has advanced further into Web3 with the release of a new feature that would enable users to show their non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the face of their smartwatch.
The new features will be available as a free software update for Tag Heuer Connected Calibre E4 smartwatch customers via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users may safely connect to cryptocurrency wallets like Ledger Live and Metamask. The watch face interacts with all the collections on Ethereum and offers three different ways to display time while showcasing NFT artworks.
According to Tag Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault, an NFT display will be an attractive add-on for watch owners.
“Not launching our own NFT collection but allowing collectors to use their NFTs in a new way was the most obvious first step. We speak to all passionate collectors,” he says.
The company claimed that a customer may select one of the three available styles to show off their digital assets and can transfer numerous NFTs to their watch through a connected smartphone. In order to ensure that the images fit on the smartwatch's round screen, they can additionally resize the images.
"Verified NFTs are displayed in a hexagon with a cloud of particles gravitating around the image. Some NFTs are still images, and some are animated GIFs. TAG Heuer’s watch face will support these formats in crisp detail, with animations looping infinitely," the watchmaker said.
With a team of in-house engineers working on blockchain-related initiatives, TAG Heuer continues to expand in the Web3 market. TAG Heuer teamed up with BitPay in May to start taking payments in Bitcoin (BTC) and eleven other cryptocurrencies, including a number of stable coins tied to the US dollar.
