The Sandbox Opens its First Pop-Up in Hong Kong
To support the ongoing growth of its user base in the city, The Sandbox, a decentralized gaming virtual world and a division of Animoca Brands, has made the decision to establish its first-ever pop-up presence in Hong Kong. The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier, which is situated on the fifth floor of K11 MUSEA in Tsim Sha Tsui, will provide seminars run by knowledgeable community design firms, extensive sharing sessions about the metaverse, and innovative video material on large display screens.
Hongkongers will be able to play-and-earn in the Sandbox for a long time this summer by taking part in a variety of new activities. Visitors to The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier will receive rewards through ongoing promotions if they create an account there. Participants will also have a chance to win a 1x1 LAND and an NFT house designed by the Sandbox metaverse studio.
“With the opening of The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier, we are pleased to welcome an even wider group of users in Hong Kong to explore a truly open metaverse and enjoy a new range of experiences,” said Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox. “We have invited a wide range of partners to share new ways for users to develop avatars – their own digital identities – and to interact more extensively so that everyone can unleash their imagination and create their own dream in the metaverse,” Borget added.
Index Game, Pangu by Kenal, Metalympics, and UFO School are among the local design firms organizing the metaverse workshops. The Sandbox developed the sessions to appeal to a diverse audience, including schoolchildren, university students, adults, and executives from the city's major firms.
This isn’t Sandbox’s first venture to Hong Kong, the business built Hong Kong's cultural center, "Mega City," in the metaverse. It sponsored a "LAND" push in April of this year to allow users to claim a section of the area as their own.
The Sandbox Hong Kong pop-up is distinct from the metaverse since it is grounded in the physical world. But it demonstrates that The Sandbox hasn't stopped inventing, and considering how much news it generates through partnerships, it might not stop anytime soon.
