The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has announced their biggest NFT to date. The proceeds will help provide internet access to impoverished children worldwide.

Planned to release on the Ethereum blockchain this January is a collection of 1000 “Patchwork Kingdoms” NFTs. Each designed using real world data from the Giga project, a global initiative to connect every school on the planet to the world wide web. The images have also been modeled by data scientist and artist, Nadieh Bremer, to produce an aesthetically astounding collection.

Each NFT represents a moment in time when Giga has reached in an initiative. A digital memory of the progress of the project, and a starkreminder of how much work is still needed, highlighting the immense task to link up the world’s estimated 1.3 billion disconnected children by leveraging the latest hi-tech solutions such as low orbit satellites, machine learning, and the blockchain.
