Wimbledon to Celebrate 100 Years with the Release of ‘The Centenary Collection’
Wimbledon, also known as The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, has announced the introduction of The Centenary Collection, a collection of ten digital collectibles made for devoted tennis fans, to mark the 100th anniversary of the legendary Centre Court.
Glorious Digital, a digital art company located in New Zealand, has curated the NFT collection. Their work draws influence from the history of the court as well as the culture, art, fashion, and events of each decade.
Each of the 100 NFTs, priced at £500, is anticipated to be immediately grabbed by Wimbledon's worldwide fans and a random selection from the Glorious Founding Membership. Customers will also not be allowed to select the decade of artwork they wish to buy; instead, they will be informed of the official release date of The Centenary Collection on the final day of the competition.
"We are aware Wimbledon’s passionate fans will have high expectations. It’s not lost on us that Wimbledon is hallowed ground and the spiritual home of tennis, and we are honoured by and respectful of this incredible opportunity to work with Wimbledon to immortalise its rich legacy on the Blockchain.” said Tim Harper, chief executive of Glorious Digital.
Registration for the collection opened on June 13 via wimbledon.glorious.digital and closes on July 3.
