Zoom Introduces Metaverse Apps to Increase Collaboration and Engagement
Zoom just upgraded its popular "Breakout Rooms" with new metaverse capabilities. Employees could build a lifelike virtual world for a more engaging video conference experience with the integration of the Welo app.
Zoom has recently introduced new metaverse features that include collaborative tools to improve interaction among meeting attendees, where Breakout Rooms are becoming even more engaging.
Welo, according to Zoom's blog post, creates a digital workspace where people can see and interact with others using in-app avatars. Employees could move around this tiny metaverse space whenever they wanted to switch from one group to another. The app will automatically sync with the group with which the user wants to interact.
Zoom aims that the Welo integration will make virtual meetings more productive and efficient and improve the connection. The company highlighted additional features such as embedding notes within Welo that could make work more seamless and interactive.
Welo for Breakout Rooms is currently in beta, and the company intends to improve it in the coming months.
While Welo is the most notable new feature from a metaverse standpoint, Zoom announced numerous other updates in a recent blog post. Zoom's top innovation was "Collaborate Mode," which is primarily intended to add a more "interactive" element to "screen-sharing."
Anyone hosting a Zoom call can use "Collaborate Mode" to share their screen and allow others to access the app they're using. Working on a shared whiteboard with Miro or working on a document with Coda are two examples Zoom used to explain "Collaborate Mode.
Any Zoom users who want to try out these new features can do so by clicking "Apps" and "Discover" to see what's currently available.
