Tim Kang, better known as Illestrater, is one of the most well-known NFT collectors in the world. Before the early 2021 bull market truly took off, Illestrater popped up on the crypto whale radar through his purchase of Pak’s infamous Mobius Knot, which he bought for 77 ETH (about $42k). However, Illestrater is also a builder. In February of 2021, he created the Sevens Foundation. The company’s Genesis Grants cover (at minimum) an artist’s cost when publishing works as part of a show. These funds have given numerous creators – especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds – the opportunity to develop their careers in the NFT space. He also created universe.xyz, a platform that lets users mint NFTs, create and edit NFT collections, and run auctions with multiple NFTs per winner.
