To commemorate its one-year anniversary, Chiru Labs, the Los Angeles-based company behind the well-known NFT collection Azuki, has recently announced the launch of its own metaverse.

Azuki Hilumia is a community-created metaverse city that represents the company's past, present, and future. Holders of Azuki can now explore Hilumia and visit several virtual locations including Slowpoke’s Toy Haven, Hill Hall, 56 Fitness Center, 9 Lives Arcade, and Moda. The Golden Skate Park, Love Island, and Garden Express are some more locations of the metaverse where people may submit ideas for the metaverse.

The announcement elicited ecstasy from the Azuki community, who have been lighting up NFT Twitter today. Azuki's floor price has also experienced a significant increase in recent days.

The 10,000 Azuki NFTs were first sold out on January 12, 2022, for 1 ETH each. At the time of writing, the floor price for an Azuki NFT on OpenSea is 15.2 ETH.

Azuki is one of the world's most popular NFT collections, and despite the crypto and NFT winter of 2022, the project continues to grow and provide value to its members. We've previously covered many projects by Chiro Labs.

Last November, Azuki collaborated with Red Bull Racing to place Azuki NFT #8494 on the side of two cars that competed in the season's final Formula 1 event in Abu Dhabi. The NFT has adopted the nickname "Lei the Lightning Azuki."

It is also worth noting that in April, Azuki #9605 was sold on OpenSea for a world-record-breaking 420.7 ETH on March 30th. That is the highest sum paid for a single NFT in the 10K Azuki collection so far. Azuki #9605 was purchased for $1.4 million by OpenSea user jdizzles at the time of sale.

2022 was a difficult and challenging year for many NFT projects, including blue-chip collections like Azuki. But it appears like the big players are returning back, and Azuki is positioned to be a key player in the space. Here at NFT Drops Calendar, we'll keep a close eye on any development of the Hilumia metaverse.
