Nissan's Latest Foray into Web3: New Trademarks Filed for Infiniti, Nismo, and Nissan Brands
Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan has announced its latest foray into Web3 with the filing of four new Web3-related trademarks in the United States.
According to the application filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the trademarks cover Nissan's Infiniti, Nismo, and Nissan brands, indicating the company's plans to offer virtual goods such as clothes, cars, headgear, trading cards, toys, tickets, and a nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace for trading and minting NFTs.
The company plans to offer metaverse advertising services and "entertainment services," such as online video, images, artwork, tickets, audio, sounds, music, and trading cards. Additionally, Nissan also plans to provide non-downloadable computer software that may be used as a digital wallet along with a website that provides details on its proposed NFTs and how they will operate.
Nissan's foray into Web3 is part of its efforts to explore new ways of reaching out to customers and expanding its offerings. By embracing the potential of Web3, Nissan aims to stay relevant and competitive in an industry that is constantly evolving.
Nissan Japan also announced last week that it will run a three-month "demonstration experiment" of its online store "Nissan Hype Lab" to allow customers to "study, consult, test drive, and buy Nissan vehicles" in the metaverse.
Customers will be able to access the virtual storefront "24 hours a day" using a Laptop or smartphone during the experiment, which runs from March 8 to June 30. Clients may design their own personalized avatars and, during specific hours, communicate with virtual sales representatives.
The company states that clients may use this online sales office to place automobile orders and complete purchase agreements.
In April of last year, Nissan revealed that metaverse technologies are now being used in their business operations.
